Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has given the go-ahead of the largest humanitarian aid convoy from Tahya Misr Fund to the Gaza Strip in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, noting that two thirds of the assistance sent to the war-ravaged enclave came from Egypt.
He said the convoy – under the slogan “We share for the sake of humanity” – comprised 199 trucks laden with medical supplies and equipment as well as huge quantities of food, water, milk, juice, clothes, blankets, carpets, covers, diapers, disinfectants, power generators and torches.
Several state bodies, non-governmental organizations and citizens contributed to the convoy, he said, noting that Egypt spares no effort to deliver aid to Gaza.
Mabouli has stressed that the humanitarian conditions of Gazans stimulate all Egyptians to contribute to assistance for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The premier noted that Egypt is also receiving wounded Palestinians for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
Meanwhile, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar asserted that Egypt receives average of 40-50 cases of injured Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
In an interview with Egyptian TV program of Good Morning Egypt on Sunday, he said 39 percent of the cases coming from the Gaza Strip are children who were either wounded in the Israeli shelling or suffer from tumors.
He said Egypt also received women and elderly people, noting there are more than 35 fully-equipped ambulances at the Rafah border crossing to handle any emergency case.
He added that most of injured cases require intervention of doctors from different specializations as the injuries are complicated.
