Egypt climbed five places to rank 86th globally in the 2026 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index, scoring 69 points compared with 91st place in 2025, according to the Sustainable Development Report 2026 issued by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

Index tracks progress across 17 global goals:

The SDG Index, published annually as part of the Sustainable Development Report, tracks countries’ progress toward the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating stronger progress toward achieving the goals.

Global SDG progress remains off track:

The 2026 index draws on 123 indicators covering economic, social, and environmental dimensions related to the SDGs. The report found that global progress remains significantly off track, with only 16% of SDG targets projected to be achieved by the 2030 deadline.
