The LEGO Group increased its sustainability spending by 20% in 2025 from the previous year, more than tripling investment levels from 2022, as it steps up efforts to reduce its environmental footprint.

Materials, energy, packaging:

The company’s latest campaign highlights its sustainability initiatives, including greater use of renewable and recycled materials, expanded renewable energy generation and a shift from single-use plastic packaging to paper-based alternatives.

The campaign also celebrates the durability and reusability of LEGO bricks, with 74% of adults saying products should be built to last and used multiple times.

More recycled materials:

The LEGO Group is increasing its use of renewable and recycled materials across its products. These include materials sourced through certified mass-balance systems, elements containing 20% artificial marble countertop offcuts, flexible elements made with 89% Brazilian sugarcane and tires containing 34% recycled materials from fishing nets and engine oil.

More renewable energy:

The company is expanding renewable energy generation across its operations, including solar projects at sites worldwide.

Less plastic packaging:

The LEGO Group is also reducing single-use plastic packaging and switching to paper-based alternatives.

Built to be rebuilt:

Featuring the return of the LEGO Knight from the classic 1978 Yellow Castle set, the campaign highlights the durability of LEGO bricks, which have been designed to be built and rebuilt since their creation in 1958.

Annette Stube, Chief Sustainability Officer at the LEGO Group, said the campaign celebrates the enduring nature of LEGO play while highlighting the company’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact for future generations. The campaign will run across the LEGO Group’s digital channels, including YouTube.
