Eleni Polychroniadou, CEO and co-founder of Sintali, said that Egypt is still in the early stages of sustainable construction, but it can benefit from global experiences in moving towards green buildings.
She added that the market in Egypt is not fully prepared to work in the field of sustainable construction, especially in light of financial shortage. However, when the market is ready, all developers will switch in the same time towards constructing green buildings.
She made the remarks during the 15th Egypt CSR and Sustainable Development Forum (15th Egypt CSR Forum).
The Sintali CEO said Sustainable construction can be interpreted within the framework of quality as sustainable infrastructure does not have negative impacts on buildings and communities.
She added that sustainable construction is beneficial for the government and financing institutions because it does not require re-building after a certain period.
She said the construction sector has a modest impact on carbon emissions, however attention should be paid to the quality of implementation.
