Hassan Moustafa, Board Chairman of the 12th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development (12th CSR Forum), said sustainability became an exigency, especially after the outbreak of a number of crises and catastrophes.
Addressing the opening session of the forum on Thursday, Moustafa said development is no more targeting human, environmental or economic dimension each on its own, it, however, came to collectively address the three dimensions in order to be called sustainable development.
He noted that Egypt witnessed over the past years a number of development projects, which included sustainable cities and social development projects which were launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and supervised by the Social Solidarity Ministry.
He added that the government cooperated with several partners of the private sector and civil society associations.
Moustafa said the current situation requires rallying efforts and engaging in partnerships to confront international crises, adding that Egypt has represented a unique example while overcoming the coronavirus pandemic.
He called on the private sector to pay attention to social programs in addition to programs of social development and sustainable development.
He said this year’s forum is an exceptional event that seeks to offer a scientific and practical content for all those interested in the sustainable development domain in Egypt through reviewing the state’s plans, competitive advantages of Egyptian governorates and the importance of participation in effective development initiatives.
He added that the forum also offers a professional scientific content that copes with international standards for applying the sustainability concepts.
Moustafa noted that the forum will organize a training session on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for preparing and writing sustainability reports in addition to a training session on Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) standards.
The forum is held under the patronage and support of Social Solidarity Minister Nivine Kabbaj, Luxor Governor Moustafa Alham, South Valley governor Mohamed Zamaloud, Qena Governor Ashraf Dawoudi and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Moustafa Waziri.
