Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad signed a memorandum of understanding with Sanofi Egypt to team up for launching a monthly competition on the Environment Ministry’s website under the theme of “our health part of our planet’s health.”
The memo is meant to contribute to awareness programs and initiatives as well as supporting the presidential initiative “Go Green”. These efforts are meant to highlight the importance of protecting the environment.
The monthly contest will include a number of questions related to protecting the environment, the diseases resulting from air pollution, etc.
The pharmaceutical company Sanofi offers 2000 bikes to winners in the contest, she said, noting that the award was carefully selected to reflect interest in protecting the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
She referred to Egypt’s interest in spreading the culture of using sustainable means of transportation.
She added that the monthly competition is meant to highlight the efforts exerted by Egypt to protect the environment.
Fouad said the competition comes in an important timing, as Egypt is gearing up for hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) which is meant to deliver a message that all Egyptians are united behind one goal of environment protection.
She added that the ministry seeks to expand partnerships with all social categories to spread awareness about the environmental dimension in all sectors.
