Banque du Caire honored Egypt’s renowned squash player Nour Sherbini who has recently won the World Cup for the fifth time and for the third consecutive year.
Sherbini – World’s number one squash player – also won the British Open Squash Championship for the third time.
The bank’s honoring of Sherbini is meant to offer all needed support for her to realize more achievements and remain at the top of world rankings.
During the honoring ceremony, Banque du Caire Board Chairman and CEO Tareq Fayed said the achievements realized by Sherbini in sports domain raised Egypt’s name internationally.
He said this action stems from the bank’s support for talented Egyptians in various fields, especially in sports domain, noting that this falls within the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
He underlined that supporting sports is vital in view of their outstanding importance in youths’ lives.
He highlighted the importance of securing all needed potentials for talented athletes, especially in squash where Egypt realized great achievements at the international level.
Within the context, Chairperson of Banque Du Caire’s department for communications and sustainable development Haydi Nahhas said the bank is keen on promoting the sports sector, particularly through backing Egyptian athletes in various sports events.
She added that the bank also sponsors the activities of the Egyptian Basketball Federation.
The bank also took part in the banks’ initiative for sponsoring youth and sports activities organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry in tandem with the Federation of Egyptian Banks, she said.
Sponsoring sports events contributes to encouraging people to practice various kinds of sports, she said, referring to “Your Bike..Your Health” initiative, etc.
