Jumia Egypt Chairman Dr Hisham Safwat said the coronavirus crisis has highlighted the corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts being exerted by the company.
The company has cooperated with a number of ministries to serve society during this period.
The company has for example collaborated with the Health Ministry to present videos contributing to raising people’s awareness. It has also cooperated with the Supply Ministry.
In exclusive statements, Safwat said Jumia offered discounts in tandem with a number of banks, including the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, Bank Audi, Bank of Alexandria, CIB, and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.
The offers included free-interest installments and encouraged e-payment.
Safwat said youths aging between 18 to 35 years old are the most interested in buying from Jumia, but more people joined online purchase during the coronavirus period.
Safwat said e-commerce and e-payment will undoubtedly be at the forefront in the coming period and that youths will resort during these circumstances to buy all their needs online via key platforms, like Jumia.
