Oppo – a leading international company for smart phones – has donated EGP 5 million-worth food packages for thousands of Egyptian families affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The donation came in collaboration with the Egyptian government and the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
Eve Han, Brand Director of OPPO Egypt, underlined the key role of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Han said “the coronavirus is a pandemic which caused millions of infections worldwide. In Egypt, thousands of families were affected by the spread of COVID-19. We are vital part of the Egyptian community which contributes to the march of development. Therefore, we believe that it is our responsibility to assist, support and take care of these families in such hard times.”
Over the past few weeks, OPPO distributed 15,000 food boxes in all Egyptian governorates affected by the pandemic.
In the beginning of the coronavirus spread, Oppo has made a remarkable contribution through collaborating with two doctors; namely Dr. Osama Abdel-Latif, Consultant Allergy and Immunology, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Khatib, Specialist in Pediatrics and Neonatology, to offer needed medical tips for protection from the coronavirus via videos that were published on facebook pages of Oppo and the two doctors. These videos achieved high views.
Oppo – which entered the Egyptian market in 2015 – has been keen to shoulder its social responsibility and realize economic growth and, hence, contribute to national development.
The company has pledged to offer more assistance within the framework of its CSR efforts which are meant to contribute to the country’s development drive.
Han added “we promise the Egyptian community to further cooperate to buttress state efforts in the face of the pandemic. Backing Egyptians is a responsibility that we hope all parties will contribute to.”
