Allianz Egypt has allocated a special budget for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives which target mainly the fields of education, health and sports, the company’s board chairman said.

The latest meeting of the company’s general assembly approved to boost CSR activities to help Egypt realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The company’s Board Chairman Ayman Hegazi said the company focuses on supporting children, noting that the company has partnered with UNICEF to launch “I Deserve a Chance: I Will Learn” Initiative which aims at ensuring that every child has a chance to learn.

Allianz is supporting UNICEF’s work to strengthen social inclusion and social protection programs for vulnerable children and their families in Egypt.

Allianz earmarked about EGP 6.5 million for the initiative with the money due to be spent over three years as of inking the agreement in March 2019. The first stage of the initiative was spearheaded in September 2019.

Funding from Allianz allows UNICEF in supporting the government in their integrated policy response to child poverty. Specifically, to improve social inclusion, with a focus on the most marginalized children and improve the accessibility and affordability of education services through conducting research to ensure targeting the most vulnerable.

Meanwhile, Mina Abdel Shahid, head of the company’s marketing sector, said the company’s CSR strategy is committed to social inclusion and seeks to serve certain social strata.

The company seeks through its social inclusion program to promote better opportunities for young people worldwide. It fosters social innovation through partnerships with social organizations and social entrepreneurs, corporate volunteering, fundraising, donations and much more.

The company has developed programs focusing on child safety and education. These programs are tailored towards the needs of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and disaster prone regions.

For his part, Deputy Board Chairman Hamad Mahran said the company seeks to realize a tangible development in children’s lives.
