The Egyptian House of Representatives approved on Monday a bill regulating practices of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Egypt.
The bill is encouraging for establishing NGOs in Egypt to join hands with the state in accomplishing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The bill incentivizes voluntary work and promotes democracy and good governance.
In a statement on Monday, the deputy chairman of the State Council, Abdel Razeq Mahran, said the council’s legislative department will revise the NGOs bill after the parliament’s approval.
The State Council’s legislative department chairman decided to form a committee to revise the bill – which consists of 97 articles – in preparation for taking needed measures to enact the law, Mahran said.
