A well-touted slogan, coming to give impetus to the notion that having a pronounced and meaningful CSR activity, is actually good for business.
This premise is indeed generally accepted globally, and is supported by empirical data, in a recent survey conducted by Neilsen consumer research agency, it showed that over 55% of consumers globally, would pay an extra in purchasing goods and services produced/offered by companies with an active and sustainable CSR mandate…or what some may call socially responsible capitalism.
A strong commitment by Corporate Egypt to positive social and environmental impact goes way beyond a good will gesture that deserves applaud, it is in fact a question of survival.
Egypt faces a number of major and crucial challenges, to name but a few, poverty, health, education, housing, unemployment etc., coupled with an explosions in population growth.
Therefore, for corporate Egypt to double up and multiply its efforts on the CSR front, in a well-coordinated and sustainable effort targeting the above problem areas, is not a gift, not a luxury…it is simply a MUST.
