Mariout Hills, which got the first membership in Sustainability Committee in the United Nations, decided to establish the first sustainable city in the Middle East and the Mediterranean on the Egyptian lands.
The sustainable city ( ECO City EGYPT) was officially authorized by the committee of governmental, private sector and sustainable projects in the United Nations.
The United Nations approved to offer full support for the project which is expected to win the world’s sustainable city award by 2023.
Mariout Hills Chairman Ahmed Hassan said ECO City Egypt will incentivize investments in Egypt in the fields of renewable energy and real estate.
He expected the project will have a positive impact on investments in the whole region.
Mariout Hills, which is specialized in establishing sustainable cities, has opened the door for booking at the first sustainable hotel in Egypt which will depend on renewable energy, offer organic food and recycle its waste.
The first stage of ECO City which will be in Egypt’s North Coast, is expected to cost about EGP 2.4 billion.
Mariout Hills will establish a Sports Medical village in its project ECO City. The city have the largest international center for sports camps in the middle East hosting athletic teams providing medical care, rehabilitation.
The city will also comprise of residential units which comply with all globally adopted environmental requirements, and depends entirely on clean energy from solar power plants, potable drinking water production units with condensation technology in order to achieve full self-sufficiency in energy, water, and organic food.
