Hassan: Credit Agricole works on applying standards of sustainability, ESG
Sherif Hassan, GM, Head of Sustainability & Sustainable Finance at Credit Agricole Egypt, said the bank works on applying standards of sustainability as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
He highlighted that the bank changes its sustainability strategy every three years.
Hassan made the remarks during the 14th CSR & Sustainable Development Forum, currently held in the Red Sea resort city Sharm El Sheikh.
Hassan expounded that the bank applied these standards out of its belief that starting from within will help gaining clients’ trust and credibility.
In 2016, the bank obtained “LEED” certification for the first time in Egypt and North Africa due to constructing a building that adheres to the highest environmental system standards.
Credit Agricole Egypt obtained the LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its “Madinaty Open-Air Mall” branch, recognizing the branch’s adherence to rigorous standards and criteria across various categories; such as location, materials, indoor quality, and innovation.
LEED is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership, where LEED-certified buildings are designed to minimize the use of energy and water, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create healthier environments for employees.
