German clean energy company 1KOMMA5° plans to invest more than €100 million in its energy intelligence platform Heartbeat AI in 2027, backed by a new financing round exceeding €70 million and €35 million from its operating cash flow.

The financing round values the company at $1.35 billion before the new investment, up 35% from its July 2025 round, according to the company.

The round is led by b2venture, with Japanese cleantech investor Marunouchi Innovation Partners (MIP) joining as a new shareholder. Existing investors, including CalSTRS, eCapital, G2 Venture Partners and Eurazeo, are also participating.

Expanding AI-powered energy management:

The company will direct the funds toward AI development, software capabilities and faster market expansion.

Heartbeat AI connects and controls household energy systems, including batteries, heat pumps, solar panels, electric vehicle chargers and air conditioning units. It coordinates energy production and consumption and sells electricity on behalf of customers on power exchanges, helping reduce energy costs and stabilize the grid.

The platform is compatible with a wide range of energy systems and currently aggregates more than 1 gigawatt of flexible capacity across five markets, making it one of Europe’s largest virtual power plants serving households, the company said.

Philipp Schröder, CEO and co-founder of 1KOMMA5°, said the investment would support the development of a universal energy AI platform capable of operating as an end-to-end energy management system and delivering clean, affordable power to millions of people.

Growth accelerates as hardware business  remains profitable:

Micha Grüber, CFO and co-founder of 1KOMMA5°, said the company continued to expand across its seven markets, with new customer orders in Germany rising nearly 50% year on year in September.

He added that the oversubscribed financing round was the company’s first focused specifically on its energy AI solutions, as it increased software investment while maintaining profitability and positive cash flow in its core hardware business.

The company expects organic revenue to grow by 35% to 40% year on year in 2026. It has also secured financing facilities of up to €1.5 billion from leading banks to support growth across its public-sector and private-customer segments.

According to the company, these facilities do not affect its balance sheet, leaving it debt-free despite record investment levels.

Founded five years ago, 1KOMMA5° employs around 3,000 people worldwide and operates across seven markets.
