Google has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Flo Health, the women’s health platform used by more than 80 million women monthly, to develop personalized health experiences, advance women’s health research, and introduce new products tailored to women’s needs.

The partnership will integrate Flo’s menstrual cycle and women’s health insights with Google Health’s health-tracking capabilities, wearable devices, and AI-powered coaching to provide users with a more comprehensive view of their health across different stages of life.

Integrating cycle data with Google health:

Beginning early next year, users will be able to sync their Flo Health accounts with Google Health, subject to their consent. The integration will connect menstrual cycle data with health metrics, including resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, and sleep stages.

Google Health data will also be available to Flo, enabling a more personalized and consistent experience across both platforms.

The integration will support Google Health Coach, allowing Google Health Premium subscribers to receive tailored guidance based on their menstrual cycles, sleep patterns, and recovery. The service will also support women navigating perimenopause and other changes throughout their lives.

Users can already log cycle dates and symptoms and view period predictions and cycle phases through the Google Health app or compatible Fitbit devices.

Research, new products for women:

The partnership will focus on four areas: secure data integration, personalized AI-powered coaching, women’s health research, and the development of new products.

Google and Flo plan to collaborate on research into underserved areas of women’s health, potentially covering perimenopause, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), pregnancy, and postpartum recovery.

The companies will also develop products designed specifically for women, combining Flo’s health insights and algorithms with Google’s wearable hardware and advanced sensor technology.

Privacy, data protection:

Google and Flo said the partnership will follow a strict opt-in model, with users required to provide explicit consent for each type of data shared and each intended purpose. Users can withdraw their permission at any time.

Google also said Flo data shared with Google Health will not be used for advertising, sold, or made available to other apps or developers through its health platforms.

The collaboration forms part of Google’s broader effort to expand personalized health guidance and support women’s health needs, from menstrual health and pregnancy to perimenopause and beyond.
