Two Egyptian figures were named on the list of most effective Arab figures in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in 2021 which has been recently issued by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility.
Director of Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages Azza Abdel Hameed and Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers Dr. Khaled Hanafi came on the list in appreciation of their outstanding efforts in 2021.
The third edition of the list has included three categories of the most socially effective figures.
Khaled Hanafi has been honored for his strenuous efforts to support sustainable development in the Arab world and encouraging the private sector’s contribution to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.
As for Azza Abdel Hameed, she volunteered her time and efforts for the wellbeing of underprivileged children for more than 19 years. In 1997, she founded Nida Society for the rehabilitation of children with sensory communication disorders. She served its chairperson for over a decade.
Under her leadership, more than 1000 children with hearing impairment disorders were integrated in regular schools.
Moreover, she also established the first deaf-blind unit in Egypt in 2002.
In 2008, Abdel Hameed continued her volunteer work by serving another group of unprivileged children, orphans and children living in institutional homes.
She founded and managed Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages, the first NGO in Egypt that aims at developing, applying and advocating for the Quality Standards for Alternative Care. Wataneya successfully participated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to mandate the Quality Standards nationwide in Egypt.
In 2016, she received “Takrim Award” for the most impactful person in the Arab world in the humanitarian field.
