Amazon has adopted several ideas to encourage its customers to adopt practices that help protect the planet in the Earth Month; April.
As part of Amazon’s commitment to the Climate Pledge, it launched the Climate Pledge Friendly program to help customers identify products that are helping to preserve the natural world.
The Climate Pledge Friendly badge signals that a product has been certified by one or more of 43 third-party sustainability certifications, which include vetted and reputable certifications like Fair Trade Certified, The Forest Stewardship Council, and Energy Star Most Efficient. Amazon also has two of its own certifications, Compact by Design and Pre-owned Certified.
Amazon urged customers to look for the “Climate Pledge Friendly” label near the product name. When a customer clicks the label, he can see the product’s exact certification(s).
Amazon has also called on customers to reuse their cardboard Amazon boxes for a variety of purposes, including crafting, storage, moving, and shipping.
Amazon boxes are curbside recyclable, so if a customer does not need them, make sure to place them in the recycling bin.
The company stressed it is continuously working to reduce packaging and increase its recyclability.
Amazon also called on customers who have old or outdated electronics to send them to the Amazon Trade-In program to potentially receive money back and a discount off a new product.
Amazon Trade-In gives new life to old products by refurbishing them and reselling them, or recycling them if they can’t be resold.
The program accepts many types of small electronics, including Amazon devices, cell phones, and video games.
If the customer’s small electronic device doesn’t qualify for Trade In, you still may be able to send it to Amazon and the company will recycle it for free.
Amazon is home to many types of affordable, pre-owned and refurbished products, including kitchen appliances, home improvement tools, pet supplies, baby products, and electronics. These items have been professionally inspected and look and work like new, and they may be available for up to 50% off the price of the same, brand-new item.
