Al-Futtaim ACE revived – in collaboration with YES Full Circle – the Treecycle campaign for the second year to recycle the Christmas trees in January 2022.
This falls within Al-Futtaim ACE’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Treecycle campaign will return to ACE’s Dubai Festival City, Festival Plaza, and Yas store from January 2 to 22. All fresh trees will be handed over to their outlets in order to be recycled – for free – into organic fertilizers which will be donated to schools and educational institutions.
ACE is aware of the importance of maintaining the festive traditions of getting fresh trees to mark the Christmas, but the company is also keen on protecting the environment.
Therefore, ACE was proud to declare its role to save 300 fresh trees from ending into landfills. ACE launched Treecycle to recycle the trees and turn them into organic fertilizers.
In the first year of the initiative, the organic fertilizers were handed over to customers to use them for plants at home.
This year, the company decided to take a step forward by donating the fertilizers to local schools.
The company said on its website “We’ll accept clean, undecorated real Xmas trees and convert them into compost (around 1 kg for an average-sized tree) free of charge for you.”
The company expounded that recycling Xmas trees helps to eliminate usable organic waste that is sent to landfills, cut greenhouse gases, reduce litter in addition to using it as a fertilizer to plants.
The company encourage people to “Go Green with ACE” by buying real Xmas tree and recycling it for free.
The company is also ready to recycle trees which are not purchased from ACE.
Treecycle campaign will also teach children about the importance of recycling and protecting the green environment.
The campaign also aims to contribute to enhancing a greener environment at local schools.
ACE also offers a free service for recycling electronic waste in addition to its efforts to gradually turn into eco-friendly packaging.
