Public figures, footballers, stars, businessmen and companies have taken part in the “Kheir Challenge” or “Charity Challenge” which the Resala Charity Organization launched to support poor Egyptian families affected by the coronavirus outbreak as well as the recent wave of torrential rains which hit the country.
The Resala Charity Organization said thousands of poor families cannot afford their daily needs after losing their income over the spread of coronavirus.
The challenge’s goal is to support 100,000 needy families for a period ranging between one month to three months. The organization seeks to allocate an average of EGP 500 monthly salary for each family.
Under the challenge, the organization has managed to back 8,499 families so far.
The organization gave priority to female breadwinners, those suffering from chronic diseases and daily workers.
Under the challenge, each one of the participants will share a video on her/his Facebook accounts to invite friends to take part in the challenge so that charity work would expand to support the largest possible number of poor families.
Offering financial support to poor people will also help them abide by the state instructions to “stay at home” to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Participants called on people via Facebook videos to join the challenge and donate to 19450 bank account at all Egyptian banks, Vodafone cash, or SMS to 9598 or through the organization’s website.
They also called on people to join the challenge and invite their friends to do so.
They also urged people to stay at home in order to overcome this hard period.
Egyptian stars participating in the challenge included Tamer Hosni, Laila Elowi, Mona Zaki, Hanan Metawei, Donia Samir Ghanem, Ahmed El Saqqa, Ahmed El Sa’dani, Amir Karara, Amr Youssef, Hana El Zahed and Ahmed Fami as well as famous footballers such as Saad Samir, Tareq Hamed, Ahmed Fathi, Hussein Shahat, Shikabala, Essam El Hadari and Hazem Imam.
Arab stars have also participated in the challenges, including Syrian actress Kinda Alloush, Tunisian singer Latifa, Tunisian actor Dhafer L’Abidine, Syrian actress Jomana Morad, Tunisian actress Dora and Tunisian actress Hend Sabri.
Several companies have also taken part in the challenge, including Al Attal Holding, RFCO construction company, and Infinity Clinic Pharma.
Infinity Clinic Pharma has not only participated in the challenge, but also launched an awareness campaign among people about how to protect themselves from the coronavirus and distributed hand gel bottles among people.
