The World Bank has priced a dlrs 4 billion benchmark bond maturing in August 2033, drawing more than $11 billion in orders from over 150 investors.
The transaction attracted high-quality demand, led mainly by bank treasuries, central banks and official institutions, and asset managers. The bond carries a 4.50% semi-annual coupon and was priced at a spread of 3.9 basis points over the reference US Treasury. It will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
The transaction was led by Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, and TD Securities.
Jorge Familiar, Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank Group, said the seven-year Sustainable Development Bond demonstrates investors’ confidence in the World Bank’s mission and its ability to mobilize capital for sustainable development.
“The quality of the orderbook reflects investors’ recognition of the World Bank’s financial strength and the positive impact of the programs these bonds support,” Familiar said.
Kamini Sumra, Managing Director at BofA Securities, said the transaction highlighted the strength of the World Bank’s relationship with its global investor base and continued market support for its sustainable development mandate.
Morgan Stanley’s Ben Adubi, Head of Sovereign, Supranational and Agency (SSA), said the deal reflected the World Bank’s standing among investors, pointing to a diversified orderbook and strong demand throughout the transaction.
Spencer Dove, Managing Director and Head of SSA Debt Capital Markets at Nomura, said the World Bank’s transaction demonstrated the strength of the capital markets and provided confidence to investors and issuers.
Paul Eustace, Global Head of SSA at TD Securities, described the deal as the World Bank’s second fixed-rate dollar offering of 2026, noting the continued global appeal of its name, particularly for longer-duration bonds.
