Professors and students from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai to showcase a very different future for tertiary education in the Arab world.

Some 70 students and professors attended a five-day Expo-themed session to help them create a UAEU pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The program included a site visit as well as detailed sessions on the Expo 2020 Dubai vision, thematic pavilions and world-class visitor experience being planned for the largest event ever to be held in the Arab World.

The UAEU pavilion will be centered around UAEU’s ‘University of the Future’ initiative to redefine tertiary education, focusing on creating a knowledge economy workforce and revolutionizing the provision of university education in the Arab World by 2030.

Under the strategic initiative, launched in 2018, the UAEU aims to secure a place among the 20 best academic institutions in Asia and 200 best universities globally.

Expo 2020 will host 30 UAEU students for a six-month work-study training course, known as the Pathfinders Program, during which they will gain the knowledge and skills needed to design an engaging and immersive visitor experience that reflects UAEU’s ambitious plans for its Pavilion during Expo 2020.

For six months from 20 October 2020 until 10 April 2021, Expo 2020 Dubai will welcome more than 200 participants, including educational establishments, businesses, multilateral organisations and 192 countries – to the World’s Greatest Show of human brilliance and achievement. Organized under the theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, Expo expects 25 million visits, with 70 percent of visitors predicted to come from outside the UAE.
