The Housing and Development Bank (HDB) signed another cooperation protocol with the Ahl Masr Foundation to continue contributing to the Ahl Masr Trauma and Burn Hospital which will be the largest hospital in Egypt, Middle East and North Africa specialized in treating burns for free.
Under this second protocol, the bank’s contribution to the hospital amounts to more than EGP 21 million to the hospital.
This protocol falls within the framework of the HDB’s belief in the importance of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) role.
Under the CSR, the bank boosted its efforts in the health domain through supporting several hospitals, launching a series of effective initiatives and engaging in protocols having sustainable and positive impact on this sector.
HDB Board Chairman and Managing Director Hassan Ghanem signed the protocol with Head of Board of Trustees of the Ahl Masr Foundation Heba el Sewedy.
This is the second cooperation protocol between the two sides; the first protocol at about EGP 9 million and the second protocol at about EGP 12 million.
El Sewedy thanked the bank for its support for the hospital, voicing hope to continue this cooperation to secure all needed equipment for the medical facility.
For his part, Ghanem accentuated the bank gives a top priority to CSR and seeks to buttress all vital state sectors.
He said the bank believes that financial and banking institutions have a role to play in the CSR and sustainable development scores as promoting non-profit civil associations proved to be effective in supporting society and reaching the largest number of beneficiaries.
Supporting the health sector comes at the top of the bank’s CSR strategy over the past years, he said, noting that this goes in line with the state policies aiming at developing the health mechanism.
Ahl Misr Foundation was set up in 2013 to be the first non-profit development association in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa that is interested in the issues of protection and treatment of accidents and burns. It also seeks to realize a revolution in the charity and volunteering work in the health sector.
