Dell Technologies has accelerated its drive towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and managed to attain its 2020 goals ahead of schedule.
The company’s FY19 Corporate Social Responsibility Report has demonstrated early completion of much of the company’s 2020 Legacy of Good Plan which is meant to serve the SDGs.
The report said Dell Technologies reused 100 pounds of recycled content, plastic and other sustainable materials in its new products, thus achieving its 2020 goal ahead of schedule.
Dell Technologies also developed and maintained sustainability initiatives in 100% of Dell Technologies-operated buildings, thus achieving the 2020 goal ahead of schedule.
The company also reduced 64% of product portfolio energy intensity footprint in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
It also delivered 5 million service hours to communities globally through initiatives that focused on skills-based volunteering, mentoring students, and developing new nonprofit technology solutions.
Building the diverse workforce of the future, the company has invested since 2014 more than $65 million to create new career opportunities by providing underserved youth worldwide with access to comprehensive science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. Dell Technologies also became a founding member of Reboot Representation Tech Coalition, an initiative founded by Melinda Gates’ Pivotal Ventures to double the number of black, Latina and Native American women graduating with computer degrees by 2025.
