Google has rolled out new proactive health and safety tools in its Google Health app, giving Pixel Watch users access to blood pressure, insulin resistance and sleep breathing quality trends.

The Health Guardian features will be available free of charge for Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5 devices, with the first trend reports expected to arrive in early October.

Health trends tracked over time:

Users can set up blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends and sleep breathing quality metrics through the Google Health app starting this week.

The features are designed to work continuously in the background, tracking subtle physiological changes over time and are backed by clinical research.

Fitbit Air users will also be able to access insulin resistance and blood pressure trends through a Google Health Premium subscription later this year.

Emergency breathing detection:

The Health Guardian suite also includes Breathing Emergency Detection, which Google describes as a first-of-its-kind feature for Pixel Watch 4 and 5 users in select European countries.

The feature is designed to automatically prompt a call to emergency services when it detects severe drops in a user’s blood oxygen levels.
