The latest edition of the ranking evaluated 21,291 universities globally, with only the top-performing institutions securing places on the Global 2000 list.

Methodology focuses on outcomes, research:

CWUR publishes one of the few global university rankings that does not rely on reputation surveys or data submitted by universities. Instead, institutions are assessed using objective indicators covering education quality, alumni employability, faculty distinction, and research performance.

The methodology assigns a 25% weight each to education and employability, measured through the academic and professional success of alumni relative to university size. Faculty quality accounts for 10% of the score, while research performance contributes 40%, based on research output, publication quality, influence, and citation impact.

Research remains the largest component of the ranking, reflecting universities’ contributions to global knowledge creation and scientific advancement.
