UNIDO-organized Green Business Conf., Expo to kick off in Luxor Saturday
The 3rd Green Business Conference and Expo – organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) – will kick off on Saturday in the Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor within the framework of the organization’s efforts to prop up small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Upper Egypt.
The two-day event – financed by the Swiss government – builds on the success of the first two editions of the expo as this year’s gathering is expected to attract over 2,000 visitors.
The event is held within the framework of Inclusive Green Growth project in Egypt (IGGE) which is implemented by UNIDO and financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The event is meant to spotlight the challenges facing this sector and promote its competitive edge in order to give momentum to this sector, thus improving Egyptian products and buttressing the government’s efforts to realize growth, increase productivity and create more jobs.
The expo will buttress sustainable dialogue among key agencies concerned with economic sectors with financiers and business development service providers.
About 100 exhibitors in various domains, including recycling waste and organic fertilizers, will participate in the expo.
The expo will also include presentations by financial support institutions on market offers for green economy, strengthening market links between MSMEs, green economy financing tools and business development service providers, as well as reviewing the role of partners in buttressing green economy in the Upper Egypt governorates of Luxor and Qena through financial and non-financial services, opportunities and challenges in adopting climate smart technologies.
