Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Amina J. Mohammed said Egypt has adopted important initiatives for promoting green transition and localizing green investments.
She underlined the United Nations’ preparedness to offer full support to Egypt in this regard.
The UN official made the remarks on Wednesday during the opening of the second Egypt – International Cooperation Forum (Egypt – ICF) in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
She said the world is currently facing the dangers of climate change and special measure should be taken in this regard.
She stressed that investment in climate change became a fait accompli, accentuating the urgent need for joining hands to confront climate change.
She added that UN Secretary General António Guterres has called for increasing the finance allocated for climate change measures.
She urged localizing solutions for confronting climate change within the framework of a comprehensive mechanism.
She expounded that developing countries cannot bear the cost of green transition and need help in this regard.
