Suez Canal Bank allocated EGP 18.5m for CSR in 2019

The Suez Canal Bank has channeled in 2019 a total of EGP 18.5 million into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, especially in the fields of health, education and environment protection.

In 2019, the bank donated about EGP 3.47 million to upgrade health and educational services in Egypt.

Moreover, the bank contributed EGP 10 million for the fund for honoring martyrs and supporting their families as well as those injured in military or  security operations.

The bank also extended EGP 5 million for the 2019 World Youth Forum which is sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The bank’s CSR initiatives in health domain

The bank has realized many achievements in the health sector as it supported several hospitals to offer medical services gratis.

The bank also collaborated with the Ahl Masr Foundation for burns treatment to offer medical services for free in addition to  backing an initiative by the Health and Population Ministry to put an end to waiting lists of patients.

It also earmarked EGP 1 million for securing needed equipment for an intensive care unit (ICU) for children suffering health problems at Al Nas Hospital.

The bank has also launched a health program to spread awareness among workers in various health scores about the importance of adopting healthy nutritional lifestyles.

The bank also offered medicine for free for workers on the  2019 World Diabetes Day in addition to organizing a symposium for sensitizing its workers to breast cancer in the 2019 Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The bank’s initiatives for supporting education, handicapped and youths

As for the education sector, the bank inked a one-million-pound agreement with the Zewail City of Science and Technology to finance 13 scholarships in 2018-2019. The scholarships went to the city’s distinguished students who need financial support.

The bank has also backed handicapped people through its cooperation with the Nasser Social Bank and the Social Solidarity Ministry to establish the first fund in Egypt for supporting disabled persons.

The fund offers support for people with disabilities, especially through purchasing their needed equipment and prosthesis, to help them play an effective role in their societies.

The bank was also keen to support youths and entrepreneurs through the Nile Preneurs Initiative which was funded and sponsored by the Central Bank of Egypt to support small and medium sized enterprises and startups in targeted economic sectors.

The bank contributed about EGP 1.2 million for buttressing the initiative through establishing service centers for developing businesses, communicating with youths and entrepreneurs, selecting promising business ideas and offering all needed support for them under the bank’s services.

The bank also worked on encouraging the development of innovations as well as entrepreneurship to give momentum to national economy.
