Tanweer, formerly Rural Areas Electricity Company, has bagged the Wind Power Project of the Year Award for its Dhofar Wind Project. The company won at the Asian Power Awards ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by Tanweer’s CEO, Eng Saleh al Rumhi, and a representative from Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company ‘Masdar’, marking a stronger Omani presence in the renewable energy world. Eng Rumhi stated the significance of the win for Tanweer.
‘We are grateful for this recognition. It is an honor to have the opportunity to get international recognition for renewable projects in Oman. Winning the Wind Power Project of the Year Award is also a testament to the innovation and efficiency of our Dhofar Wind Project as well as to the hard work and dedication of all Tanweer staff.’
