A new National Geographic exhibition will make its U.S. museum debut at Nauticus on January 30, 2021.
National Geographic’s Planet or Plastic? exhibition will showcase the global plastic waste crisis and highlight innovators like researchers, scientists and artists, working to solve this issue.
The exhibition will help guests learn about plastic’s history, the negative impacts of plastic pollution on our world’s oceans, and the rise of single-use plastics due to COVID-19.
Kathryn Keane, vice president of public programming at the National Geographic Society, believes plastic pollution is one of the most important global environmental challenges of our generation.
“It is an issue that we can all do something about. This exhibition informs us about how we got here, the scope of the problem, and how we can each be a part of the solution,” Keane said.
Stephen E. Kirkland, executive director of Nauticus, said that the images will take your breath away.
