The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) decided to up the grant offered for developing Egypt’s Abul Rish Children’s Hospital to stand at 18 million dollars.The hospital offers free medical service for children.
Thanks to the rise of the grant, Egypt and Japan signed on Sunday a deal on establishing clinics at the hospital and fitting them with all needed medical equipment.
This falls within the framework of the Egyptian government’s efforts to upgrade health services and benefit from the Japanese expertise in the health domain.
The Egyptian Ministry of Investment said the grant is meant to improve health services offered to children of poor families.The project will serve about 90,000 patients annually.
The ministry said it is negotiating with its development partners to inject more investments into health and education projects to improve the services offered in these scores.
