Egypt mulling organization of int’l marathon in Wadi El Rayan

Egypt is mulling to organize an international marathon in Wadi El Rayan protectorated Area in Fayoum, 100 kilometers southwest of Cairo.

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said she raised the issue with an investor, but highlighted the importance of abiding by standards and conditions of natural reserves.

She added that one of the top priorities in the coming period is to promote investments in natural reserves for the coming generation to enjoy them in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals principles.

She said the natural protectorate administration is about to finalize categorizing natural reserves in Egypt in order to select the best of them to start implementing investments activities there in partnership with the private sector, thus offering a chance for having a unique touristic experience in Egyptian natural reserves similar to the international ones.

She stressed the importance that all visitors abide by regulations of environmental tourism and natural protectorates to protect the environment there from pollution.
She also encouraged citizens to visit natural reserves and get acquainted with the natural wealth there, highlighting the importance of protecting such reserves for the coming generations.
