David Brownlee, CEO of The Brownlee Group LLC, said institutions with clear sustainability goals achieve a 29% uptick in profits, highlighting the importance of having clear strategies and objectives for sustainability.
He referred to the energy challenges which faced Central America in 2005 as it did not have the energy resources available in Egypt or the United States, thus prompting efforts to achieve energy sustainability, and it succeeded in generating electricity from wind and solar power.
He made the remarks during the 15th Egypt CSR and Sustainable Development Forum (Egypt CSR Forum) which runs from May 7 to 10.
Brownlee said implementing sustainable development projects must begin by attracting those interested in development in order to build a shared vision for achieving the ultimate goal of sustainable development.
He added that about 74% of employees worldwide are unhappy in their jobs and only go to work for the paycheck, therefore it is essential for organizations to incentivize them.
This motivation starts with having a shared vision and values, then success will follow, he expounded.
He explained that team motivation begins with sharing a vision and values in order to achieve success, adding that everyone wants to join a successful team.
Achieving success inspires the team and leads to more work and innovation, Brownlee added.
