President of the Academy Of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) Mahmoud Saqr said a scholarship program will be laid down to support Egyptian students’ participation in international exhibitions and contests in line with Sustainable Development Goals which call for supporting innovation and upgrading education.
He added that the program falls within the framework of the academy’s executive plan to back innovators.
He made the statements on Tuesday after two Egyptian students won the 2019 Genius Olympiad which was held in the US’ Oswego city from June 17 to 22.
The Genius Olympiad is an international high school project competition about environmental issues. It is founded and organized by the Terra Science and Education and hosted by the State University of New York in Oswego. About 1400 students from 78 countries took part in the 2019 contest with about 2000 projects.
Egypt’s Ahmed Osama Mandour, a student in the 3rd year of prep school, ranked no 2 and copped the silver medal for his project on Varicoses veins multi treatment function device.
Also, Egypt’s Youssef Yasser Morsy won a 4-year scholarship in Swago University for his project on maximizing the optical characteristics of solar reflectors for improving collector efficiency.
