Advisor of Social Solidarity Min.: Sustainable development can only be achieved by integrated work on 3 dimensions

Advisor of Social Solidarity Minister for Investment, Asset Management and Resources Development Hassan Moustafa said sustainable development can only be achieved by integrated work on its three dimensions; economic, social and environmental.

He asserted that working separately on each dimension would be fruitless as sustainable development is an outcome of integrated work.

He made the remarks during the 14th CSR & Sustainable Development Forum, currently held in the Red Sea resort city Sharm El Sheikh.

He said the Ministry of Social Solidarity supports small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to secure job opportunities and improve people’s living conditions.

The ministry also works on reviving Egyptian handicrafts in addition to providing a number of packages and programs in collaboration with the private sector to support all targeted sectors.

Moustafa added that the ministry seeks turning citizens in need for support into productive people, especially through cultural and social development programs and offering services contributing to economic empowerment and creating jobs.

He added that the ministry is deeply interested in human development to improve people’s income, expounding that the ministry focuses on getting people out of the dependence stage into the production and sustainability stage.

The ministry takes into consideration the environmental conditions in all its plans and projects, noting that the Sharm El Sheikh green initiative represented a prominent example of the effective steps taken by the Egyptian state to move ahead towards sustainability.

He expounded that the Sustainable Development Goal no 17 (SDG17) focus on “partnership for the goals”,# thus contributing to supporting the 16 other goals.
