Adidas Runtastic and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) are joining forces to launch Run Wild Campaign to raise awareness for biodiversity loss and the need to protect the wildlife.
UNEP and adidas share an ambitious goal to engage 1 million runners, symbolizing 1 million species threatened by extinction.
By joining the 10 day running challenge, participants can not only test their running skills by competing with a real animal – either a pangolin, a tiger or an elephants – , they can also learn about these fantastic animals and how they are threatened on a global scale.
The campaign closely collaborates with conservation partners -The Pangolin Project, Space for Giants and the Bhutan Tiger Center – providing real data of GPS-tracked animals for the running challenge.
The UNEP through its Vanishing Treasures program is actively working with the Bhutan Tiger Center supporting tiger conservation.
