Lufthansa’s Green Fare tops 5 mln bookings, becomes Impact Fare
Lufthansa Group has renamed its Green Fare to Impact Fare after attracting more than five ...
The fare allows passengers across all travel classes to support the additional use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) across the group’s route network and contribute to selected climate protection projects outside its value chain.
How Impact Fare works:
For each booking, Lufthansa Group deploys additional SAF in its flight operations within six months of departure. On European flights, the SAF volume corresponds to 20% of estimated flight-related CO₂ emissions, while contributions to climate protection projects are based on the remaining 80%.
For intercontinental flights, the split is 10% for SAF and 90% for climate protection projects, which aim to avoid or remove CO₂ emissions.
Passengers also earn additional Miles and Points and may receive more flexible or fee-free rebooking options, depending on their booking class and destination.
Lufthansa Group’s emissions reduction measures:
The group’s efforts to reduce aviation emissions include fleet modernization, improved fuel efficiency, increased SAF use, expanded intermodal travel options, and offerings for private and corporate customers seeking to support additional sustainability measures.
Lufthansa Group has also been engaged in global climate and weather research for more than 30 years.
