Participants in the 4th Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy – organized by CSR Egypt – called for investing in nontraditional financing tools that contribute to cutting curbing emissions, combating climate change and implementing eco-friendly sustainable projects.
The forum – under the patronage of six ministries – was held in Cairo on Monday under the theme of “From Vision to Implementation.”
Participants in the meeting also called for supporting and incentivizing small and medium sized enterprises which are one of the main catalysts of the economy.
They also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about climate change.
They also called for drawing up scenarios for management of crises at their onset, not after reaching their peak.
Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine Kabbaj attended the forum alongside representatives for the ministries of environment and youth and sports.
This falls within the framework of the national efforts being exerted by the Egyptian government and development partners in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Green transition projects and programs are giving a top priority alongside climate change file and engagement in development partnerships with the private sector and international and regional development institutions to achieve sustainable and green growth.
This also paves the ground for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) which Egypt will host in November 2022.
