Saroufim: Creative economy, sustainable development are two sides of same coin
Margaret Saroufim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, asserted that the creative economy and sustainable development are two sides of the same coin, reflecting modern challenges and efforts to realize economic development.
Addressing the opening of the third Egypt Business Solutions Summit, she noted that the creative economy relies on innovative thinking and the ability to transform creative ideas into marketable services.
She highlighted that the creative economy is one of the most important tools for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for Vision 2030.
Saroufim noted that the Ministry of Social Solidarity has been interested in nurturing creativity in young age, noting that it is currently working on promoting creativity among children and integrating economic creativity with crafts and technology with sustainable development.
She accentuated that the Ministry plays a pivotal role in the creative economy through various mechanisms, such as initiatives based on creativity and innovation to solve community problems and improve the lives of people with disabilities.
She pointed out that empowering and integrating people with disabilities is essential for facilitating their engagement in the economic sector.
She highlighted the Ministry’s interest in supporting the innovative sector through exhibitions, like “Forasna” or “Opportunities” exhibition, in addition to promoting the capabilities of youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
