Lebanese, Moroccan projects sole Arabs among 10 finalists ETF Green Skills Award
Lebanon’s Zero waste project for educating for waste reduction and student environmental empowerment and Morocco’s Bouregreg Med-O-Med Gardening School by FUNCI – in collaboration with Spain – for providing green vocational training for marginalized youth are the sole Arabs listed among the 10 finalists of the Green Skills Award 2023 of European Training Foundation (ETF).
This year’s ten finalists encompass a diverse range of backgrounds and expertise, representing various countries. They were selected from nearly 600 applications from over 60 countries.
The European Training Foundation has announced the ten finalists of 2023 ETF Green Skills Award.
This is the third edition of the Green Skills Award, celebrating success stories about skills for the green transition. The award recognizes initiatives at the forefront of driving the transition towards a sustainable and green future, demonstrating exceptional commitment and innovation in promoting and developing green skills throughout the world.
The European Training Foundation has announced the ten finalists of 2023 ETF Green Skills Award as including Armenia’s TUMO Labs for empowering youth to protect the environment through a climate change observatory, Georgia’s Construct2 for developing a public-private partnership for the provision of training on eco-friendly building materials, Indonesia’s Carbon Addons for enabling youth to become climate changemakers through a carbon academy, Kenya’s E-Waste management for promoting skills development opportunities for sustainable e-waste management, Serbia’s The Green Art Incubator for promoting sustainable practices in the culture and arts sector, Türkiye’s Birsen Tanrikulu, teacher for fostering green skills and sustainability in education, Ukraine’s Taras Shevchenko National University for equipping future professionals with green competences, and US – with Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zimbabwe – WeCareSolar project for developing renewable energy solutions for remote communities and women’s empowerment
The Green Skills Award is a global initiative that was first introduced by the ETF in 2021, providing ideas and inspiration from all over the world about innovation. It is a source of good practices that can inspire people everywhere to make real change happen in creating circular and carbon-neutral economies and societies.
