Applying for Egyptian craftsmen initiative extended till Aug 29
Applying for the Egyptian craftsmen initiative was extended until August 29 under a decision by Egypt’s Cultural Development Fund.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi launched the initiative in mid July to revive traditional handicrafts.
The Cultural Development Fund took the decision to get the largest number of craftsmen to benefit from the grants offered by the fund.
The initiative also aims to train a new generation of craftsmen to the traditional handicrafts, like hand-made potteries and Khayamiya – which is a type of decorative appliqué textile historically used to decorate tents across the Middle East.
Under the initiative, those seeking to learn these traditional crafts can attend an eight-month training session. Trainees will get accredited certificates at the end of the session.
