Amb. Makram commends CSR Egypt role in promoting social sustainability
Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, commended the role played by CSR Egypt in advancing sustainability through organizing conferences in Egypt and the Arab world, facilitating the exchange of expertise, and maximizing the benefit of discussions, dialogue sessions, and workshops.
Makram hailed the company’s decade-long success which she attributed to the company’s persistence to realize social, economic, and psychological impact, which has led to both growth and sustainability.
She said CSR Egypt has achieved sustainable results, adding that success is assessed according to the positive impact on society, economy, and individuals.
Achieving impact leads to growth, which in turn brings about sustainability and development – an outcome realized through the company’s forums on social responsibility and sustainable development over the past decade, she added.
Makram said the annual forum has faced many challenges over the past ten years but has remained sustainable, now reaching its 15th edition with participation of numerous civil society organizations and private sector entities in Egypt and the Arab world.
She added that this helps exchange expertise and enrich discussions and workshops.
She made the remarks while addressing the opening session of the 15th Egypt CSR Forum which runs from May 7 to 10.
She said the private sector has resources and innovative ideas and the civil society can reach everyone, therefore their partnership significantly pushes forward sustainable development by unifying resources, reducing waste, and achieving the goals of these forums.
She added that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi declared 2022 as the “Year of Civil Society” in recognition of its vital support to the state in facing challenges.
The president’s belief in the strength of civil society was behind the establishment of the National Alliance for Civil and Development Work.
She highlighted the importance of coordination among organizations in confronting the challenges facing sustainable development, such as limited resources and capabilities.
Forums, like Egypt CSR Forum, are important for fostering partnerships between civil society and the private sector in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Succeeding in achieving sustainable development requires placing people at the heart of decision-making with the aim of ensuring decent life for everyone.
For decision-makers to achieve their goals, there is a need for partnership between the state, civil society and the private sector in order to realize long-term success and deepen social impact.
Makram accentuated that sustainable development is a national commitment, and social responsibility is fundamental in Egyptian and Arab societies, highlighting the importance of assessing the impact realized.
