WE shortlisted for World Communication Award for best CSR initiative

Telecom Egypt (WE) among six international companies which were shortlisted for the 2019 World Communication Award (WCA) for the best corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative as the company has launched an e-linkage connecting all Health Ministry’s blood banks nationwide.

WE’s national project was meant to focus on upgrading communication services to develop the Egyptian community.

The project enabled – for the first time – the Health Ministry’s decision makers to know shortage and surplus of blood in over 200 blood banks on the spot.

Many companies worldwide, including ZTE, Huwawei, STC, Peru, Viettel, Orange France and AT&T, were vying in the contest.

The WCA will hold its annual ceremony in London to honor distinguished communication operators. Over 500 CEOs and top officials in the communication sector worldwide will take part in the ceremony.

WE’s CEO Adel Hamed commented that “the company’s role is not confined to its missions in the communications sector, the company is, however, exerting efforts to realize economic and social development at all levels.”

“The company is adopting a strategy based on sustainability in line with Egypt Vision 2030. The company spared no effort to support initiatives and forums which promote interaction among all social strata. These overtures are part of our social role as a national company seeking to serve all social categories in order to raise people’s standards of living,” Hamed said.

Hamed added that WE spearheaded a large number of social initiatives and forums over the past years to develop various sectors, topped by health, education, woman empowerment, youth and handicapped people, referring to the initiatives on helping deaf people through cochlear implant, developing kidney dialysis units for children in Upper Egypt and supporting the technological infrastructure of hospitals of Ain Shams University.
