Orange Egypt donated EGP 5 million to offer financial support for poor families who were affected by the precautionary measures adopted over the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The company coordinated efforts with the Social Solidarity Ministry to ensure that the funds would end up in the hands of needy families.
Social Solidarity Minister Niveen Qabbag said the ministry is planning to launch a number of initiatives in collaboration with the private sector and civil associations to give hand to vulnerable families affected by COVID-19 precautionary measures.
She said the ministry seeks to secure all basic needs of poor people in such hard times.
She commended Orange initiative and urged all private sector companies to follow suit.
Meanwhile, Orange CEO Yasser Shaker said it is an honor for the company to cooperate with the ministry to support the painstaking efforts being exerted by the state to contain the COVID-19 crisis.
He stressed that it is the company’s duty to bolster the society where it operates.
