{"id":98533,"date":"2024-06-09T12:11:09","date_gmt":"2024-06-09T09:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=98533"},"modified":"2024-06-09T12:11:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-09T09:11:11","slug":"tetra-pak-report-47-reduction-in-its-operational-ghg-emissions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/tetra-pak-report-47-reduction-in-its-operational-ghg-emissions\/","title":{"rendered":"Tetra Pak report: 47% reduction in its operational GHG emissions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">* 20% reduction in value chain&nbsp;GHG emissions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">* 1.3 million tons of carton packages were collected and sent for recycling \u2013 a 7% increase<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">* 40 million euros invested in recycling programs worldwide<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">* 100 million euros invested in packaging research and development<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">* Number of women in senior positions increased from 14% in 2020 to 23% in 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/tetra-pak-launches-approach-nature-with-25-targets\/\">Tetra Pak<\/a>\u2019s 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Sustainability Report highlighted a 20% reduction in value chain\u00a0greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and 47% reduction in the company\u2019s operational GHG emissions\u00a0since 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The latter puts Tetra Pak on track to meet its target of net zero GHG emissions in its own operations by 2030<sup>5<\/sup>&nbsp;and supports the company\u2019s long-term ambition to work together with suppliers, customers and other stakeholders and achieve net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The company\u2019s Sustainability Report FY23 tracks the progress the company has made against its sustainability agenda. It focuses on five interdependent areas: food systems, circularity, climate, nature and social sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Another major milestone saw the launch of an aseptic beverage carton featuring a paper-based barrier, reducing its carbon footprint by a third (33%)<sup>7<\/sup>&nbsp;and bringing the company a step closer to developing the world\u2019s most sustainable food package.&nbsp;This world-first was a result of a \u20ac100 million investment in packaging research and development in 2023, with the same investment planned annually for the next five to ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Within Tetra Pak\u2019s ongoing initiatives to protect food, people and the planet, the company helped&nbsp;64 million children in 49 countries&nbsp;to get access to milk and other nutritious beverages through School Feeding Programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Moreover, the amount of carton packages collected and sent for recycling across the world rose by&nbsp;7%&nbsp;compared to 2022. Additionally, there was a&nbsp;14% increase&nbsp;in the volume of polyAl<sup>9<\/sup>&nbsp;sent for recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For the eighth consecutive year, Tetra Pak was included in the&nbsp;CDP Forests \u2018A List\u2019. Additionally, the company received an \u2018A-\u2018 rating&nbsp;in Water Security, despite it being the first year of reporting in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The company has also been actively implementing the&nbsp;UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The report also highlighted that the number of women in senior positions increased from 14% in 2020 to 23% in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Adolfo Orive, President &amp; CEO at Tetra Pak,&nbsp;commented that \u201cCollaboration across the food industry is ever more important to feed a growing population sustainably.
