It will help deliver capacity-building and advisory services to women-led MSMEs to support their know-how and entrepreneurial skills development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The investment is also supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/international-partnerships.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-technical-assistance\/funding-instruments\/european-fund-sustainable-development-plus-efsd_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/international-partnerships.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-technical-assistance\/funding-instruments\/european-fund-sustainable-development-plus-efsd_en&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1702533305517000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1AcewacS5B9CXGtHA2ldFv\">European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus<\/a> (EFSD+). This is one of the first transactions under the Bank\u2019s initial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/news\/2023\/ebrd-mobilises-earthquake-recovery-response-for-morocco.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/news\/2023\/ebrd-mobilises-earthquake-recovery-response-for-morocco.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1702533305518000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1Z7SV3G0qLKSpPnNVNXcZL\">response package of up to \u20ac250 million<\/a>\u00a0for 2023 to 2025, announced in October 2023, to rebuild Morocco\u2019s economy in the earthquake-hit regions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It will allow the Bank to provide a quick response to the aftermath of the earthquake while remaining fully in line with its main objective to promote women\u2019s entrepreneurship in Morocco, as women are among the populations most affected by the event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Since it began operating in Morocco, the EBRD has been supporting women-led MSMEs, which remain an under-served segment. Only a limited share of women-owned and -led firms have access to banking loans. This facility will foster the economic inclusion of women, which remains low: only 21 percent of women in Morocco participate in the labour force and only around 13 per cent of the country\u2019s businesses are owned or led by women.\u00a0 This investment is the EBRD\u2019s second partnership with Fondation Arrawaj.
