{"id":92382,"date":"2023-10-26T23:23:17","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T21:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=92382"},"modified":"2023-10-30T08:46:51","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T06:46:51","slug":"feb-head-egyptian-banking-sector-allocates-egp-1-bn-for-sustainable-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/feb-head-egyptian-banking-sector-allocates-egp-1-bn-for-sustainable-development\/","title":{"rendered":"FEB head: Egyptian banking sector allocates EGP 1 bn for sustainable development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Chairman of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.febanks.com\/en\"> the Federation of Egyptian Banks (FEB)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/banque-misr-earmarks-egp-50-m-to-bolster-decent-life-efforts-in-villages\/\">Banque Misr<\/a> Mohamed Etribi said the Egyptian banking sector allocated EGP 1 billion for supporting the sustainable development drive from January 2021 to December 2022.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">He made the remarks during the 17th People and Banks Conference under the theme of &#8220;Sustainability and the Green Economy\u201d which was held under the chairmanship of Hisham Okasha, the Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Egypt\u2019s portfolio of implementable green projects hit about dlrs 1.9 billion, 16 percent for renewable energy, 19 percent for clean transportation, 26 percent for sustainable water management and 39 percent for curbing pollution.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Etribi said the state will boost green investments by about 50 percent in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, noting that there is a chance for the banking sector and the private sector to contribute to these projects.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">He noted that the FEB managed to launch the sustainable development committee to magnify the benefit of green economy frameworks in line with directives of the state.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">He added that that the Central Bank of Egypt launched the Guiding Principles to reduce carbon emissions within banks\u2019 premises.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In 2020, Egypt issued its first green bond in the London Stock Exchange.
