{"id":91497,"date":"2023-09-30T22:22:31","date_gmt":"2023-09-30T19:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=91497"},"modified":"2023-10-01T11:33:09","modified_gmt":"2023-10-01T08:33:09","slug":"ifcs-25-m-loan-to-help-egypts-kandil-steel-develop-decarbonization-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/ifcs-25-m-loan-to-help-egypts-kandil-steel-develop-decarbonization-program\/","title":{"rendered":"IFC\u2019s $25 m loan to help Egypt\u2019s Kandil Steel develop decarbonization program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/ifc-banque-du-caire-team-up-to-back-decarbonizing-egypts-economy\/\">International Finance Corporation (IFC)<\/a> announced a$25 million loan to Egypt\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kandil.com\/\">Kandil Steel,<\/a> one of the largest flat steel downstream re-rollers in the Middle East and Africa, to help the company develop a decarbonization program to reduce its carbon emissions and improve its overall environmental and social practices.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">IFC announced that a partnership with Kandil Steel will support the company&#8217;s operational and financial resilience, support private sector jobs, and help it reduce its carbon emissions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The loan will help the company meet its growing working capital needs and secure the additional raw materials it needs to produce high-quality steel products.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Egypt is the largest crude steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa, and the steel industry is a key contributor to the local economy. Kandil Steel is one of the top ten exporters in Egypt, trading with more than 40 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
