{"id":91473,"date":"2023-09-29T22:28:27","date_gmt":"2023-09-29T19:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/?p=91473"},"modified":"2023-09-29T22:28:27","modified_gmt":"2023-09-29T19:28:27","slug":"tajikistans-rakhsh-green-taxi-expected-to-cut-co2-emissions-by-1240-tons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/tajikistans-rakhsh-green-taxi-expected-to-cut-co2-emissions-by-1240-tons\/","title":{"rendered":"Tajikistan\u2019s Rakhsh green taxi expected to cut CO2 emissions by 1,240 tons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Tajikistan\u2019s Rakhsh green taxi is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 1,240 tons per year and cut the emissions of other pollutants that can cause severe respiratory problems.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csregypt.com\/en\/ebrd-to-extend-100-m-loan-to-egypts-banque-misr-to-back-msmes\/\"> European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)<\/a> provided a $ 4.5 million financing package to\u00a0Rakhsh\u00a0Taxi for the acquisition of up to 100 electric vehicles (EVs) and the construction of 30 EV charging stations at the company\u2019s taxi depot and selected locations across Dushanbe, under the EBRD Green Cities program.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The package also included a grant from the Bank\u2019s Finance and Technology Transfer Center for Climate Change (FINTECC) program, supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegef.org\/\">Global Environment Facility (GEF)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Rakhsh Taxi is not only trying to be greener but also more inclusive. Mavlyuda\u00a0Rakhmatova<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0is the first woman\u00a0<\/span>to drive an electric taxi in Tajikistan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Rakhsh Taxi is not only becoming greener, but also promoting gender inclusion. The company has committed to increasing its female workforce by at least 20 percent and enhancing women\u2019s skills with dedicated training. Mavlyuda Rakhmatova is proud to be the first woman to drive an electric taxi in her country.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cI used to be an architect and worked in a design studio for 33 years,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter retirement, I realized that staying at home was not for me. My family also needed financial support, so I decided to start working as a taxi driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Tajikistan has made progress on increasing gender equality. Yet, large gender disparities remain. According to a World Bank report, about 69 percent of working-age women do not work for pay.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The safety of drivers and passengers is also an issue, which is why the company has committed to developing and implementing an anti-harassment policy to prevent and address violence or harassment, including any form of gender-based violence and harassment. A new digital application developed as part of the project will include a red button that passengers can activate if they feel unsafe.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cBeing a woman taxi driver is not easy, but things are getting better,\u201d Rakhmatova said. \u201cI wish more women would consider such a job.
